LookRSS uses browser-side XSLT to format the (RDF-based) RSS 1.0 (and RSS search results) template in Plone for human readability.

Installation

  1. Place LookRSS in the Products directory of your Zope instance and restart Plone.
  2. Go to the 'Site Setup' page in the Plone interface and click on the 'Add/Remove Products' link.
  3. Choose LookRSS (check its checkbox) and click the 'Install' button.

Enabling RSS in Plone

Use the portal_syndication tool (ZMI) to enable RSS 1.0 feeds in Plone

  1. Click portal_syndication in the ZMI of your site
  2. Click the "Properties" tab and click the "Enable Syndication" button
  3. Click the "Actions" tab and check the "Visible?" box to allow RSS to be enabled

Notes

  • Firefox 2.0 and Safari 2.0 (or later) will use it's built-in feed parser when an RSS feed is detected.
  • Opera introduced XSLT support in Opera 9
  • Although IE first supported XSLT in version 5, IE 6 is the first version that offers reliable XSLT support
  • Konqueror, as of version 3.5.5, does not support XSLT
