PloneWorldKit is an out of the box web mapping solution for ZOPE/Plone. It is built around the worldKit flash mapping engine

PloneWorldKit is a worldKit (version 2.4) integration for CMFPlone.

worldKit is an easy to use and flexible mapping application for the Web. A light weight GIS. It's a SWF based app, configured by XML, data fed by RSS.

Features of worldKit:

  • Highly configurable look and feel. Can use images for marking annotations.
  • Integrates with weblogging tools, and any software producing RSS.
  • Annotations updated in the background, live.
  • Displays photos within the map.
  • Zoom & Pan. Integrates with Zoomify for high resolution images.
  • Accepts input for Collaborative Cartography.
  • Annotations are categorizable. Javascript interface for GIS layer functionality.
  • Connects annotations for GPS track routes.

Map: A folderish content type that configures worldKit application and incorporates annotations. After adding a Map simply enter the name, title and description. Save and it works out of the box. For further configuration it is highly recommended to read the worldKit documentation !

Node: A categorizable annotation content type with coordinates. Insert geo:lat & geo:long corrdinates manually or use worldKit's input mode clicking the Annotation Input .. button.

Line & Polygon: Categorizable annotation content types that provide a list of coordinates.
